Digital scrapbook ideas for couples

A scrapbook is the slowest, most personal gift there is, and a digital one keeps all of that without the glue. Here's what to put in it and how to make each page feel like a page, not a folder of photos.

What to include

  • Your first photo together.
  • Tickets, bills and screenshots: the small receipts of your story.
  • One photo per month or per trip.
  • A short note under each: where, when, and what you remember.
  • A letter at the end.

How to lay out a page

  1. One photo, large.
  2. A short heading, like a label: 'The first coffee'.
  3. The date and one line of small print: where it was, what you ordered.
  4. A note of two or three sentences.

Make it feel like a book

  • Keep it in order: a story needs a beginning.
  • Leave the last pages blank, for what comes next.
  • Add your song, so it plays while they turn the pages.

What the research says

Nostalgic memories, typically of time with people close to us, raised positive mood and strengthened feelings of connection in a series of studies.
[1] Wildschut et al., 2006Journal of Personality and Social Psychology

A scrapbook is nostalgia on purpose: page after page of the moments that made you two, us.
